The Alabama South District Program The Director: Tracey Hornaday(Eagle Pointe Church of the Nazarene). Tracey has been a Quiz Coach and Quizmaster on the Indiana and Alabama districts since 2005.
The Season: The quiz season begins every September and ends with the District Quiz Finals in March. Even though meets occur one Saturday of each month, the host church changes each time to provide a variety and a balance of travel time for all involved. If overnight stays are required, we will coordinate with the host church to provide accommodations.
The study material of Epistles and Gospels repeats every 8 years (see table above).
The Competition: Competing as teams consisting of up to 5 quizzers, the quizzers follow a round-robin schedule that concludes in the early afternoon. Awards are given for the top individual achievements and final team standings.
Teen Quizzing FAQ's Q: How much does it cost?
A: $20 per quiz team at each quiz meet or $5 a person.
Q: Our teens are too busy. How can I get them to study?
A: Help them (or their parents) prioritize their activities. For example, try replacing 10 minutes of TV, phone or computer with reading the Scripture. Use the Bible quiz material as a daily devotional.
Q: Will their grades suffer in school?
A: In most cases, the grades actually improve! The teens apply study techniques from Bible quizzing to academics. Keep praying and believing in your teens. They will amaze you with what they can learn!
